A-deviation National deviation from an EN (and HD for CENELEC) due to regulations the alterations of which is for the time being outside the competence of the CEN/CENELEC national member

Accreditation Third-party attestation related to a conformity assessment body (CAB), conveying formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks. (EN ISO/IEC 17000).

Administrative Board Authorized agent of the General Assembly (AG) to direct CEN's business and accomplish all administrative actions and measures to achieve its objective.

Anticipatory Standards Standards that must be created before widespread acceptance of devices or services.
Anticipatory Standardization In antecipation of an expected future matching problem, a standard is developed so that the matching problem can be solved from the outset.
APEC Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation

Approval Stage At the approval stage, the final draft International Standard (FDIS) shall be distributed by the office of the CEO within 3 months to all national bodies for a 2 month vote.

ASRO National Standardisation Body from Romania: Romanian Standards Association

Assembler and Installer The natural or legal person that assembles or install the product in order that it is possible to effectively use the product.

Associate Body European organization to which the preparation of a specific programme of work has been delegated with the consent of all partners.

Associate Member An organization representative, at European level, of particular social or economic interests, whose statutes are governed by European legislation or national legislation of one of the CEN National Members' countries.

Authorised Representative Is the natural or legal person appointed by the manufacturer to act on his behalf as an authorised representative.
