R&D Research and Development
Ratification Point at which the CEN Management Centre registers the standard as an adopted standard in the CEN System following a positive vote and the production of the voting report.
Recall Any measure aimed at achieving the return of a product that has already been made available to the end user.
Regional Standard Standard that is adopted by a regional FSO and made available to the public.
Regional Standardization Standardization in which involvement is open to relevant bodies from countries from only one geographical, political or economic area of the world.
Regulation Legislative act of general applicability, binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
Regulation 765/2008/EC Setting out the requirements for accreditation and market surveillance relating to the marketing of products and repealing Regulation (EEC) No 339/93.
Reporting Secretariat Report on the standardization work undertaken within a defined ISO, ISO/IEC Technical Committee (TC) or Subcommittee (SC).
Requirement Need or expectation that is set, generally implied or obligatory.
Requiring Standard Standard that sets requirements for entities or relations between entities.

Responsive Standards Respondive standards occur to codify a product or service that has been sold with some success. When a stand-alone product is well entrenched there may be no incentive to standardise.
